Cecil Rennie AKA King Tubby’s, born in the parish of  St Thomas,,Jamaica.

He came to England as a teenager in 1965. His love of music wasn’t left behind in Jamaica; it developed in England to become a life long passion.

Cecil started his quest to be a leading soundman by serving his apprenticeship as a dedicated follower/selector of Duke Reid Sound System, This association lasted until 1969.

In March 1970 King Tubby’s hi-fi was born making Cecil at the age of 19, one of the youngest sound system owners in the UK.

The name was styled after the legendary Dub Master from Jamaica, Osbourne Ruddock AKA King Tubby’s who Cecil saw as his inspiration and mentor in Reggae Music. This friendship and close working relationship remained right up to the day of Osbourne’s untimely death in 1989. King Tubby’s hi-fi became King Tubby’s Sound System and went from strength to strength.

In 1973 introducing dub plate specials on sound systems, King Tubby’s led the way.



The Sound’s reputation grew and from playing locally in the Brixton area, soon there was not a venue in the UK King Tubby’s had not played at. King Tubby’s caught the imagination of reggae music lovers everywhere and the dances were always packed.



King Tubby’s Sound System has been hailed as one of the if not the most consistent sounds over the last four decades. The consistency and success is down to how the sound is run. Everybody in the sound is considered equal and everybody’s role is important.



The years of hard grafting in London, England and Europe have paid off as Cecil, aka King Tubby's took home the crown of No.1 London sound system in 2003.



King Tubby's has won many titles along the way but feels that this crown is very important as nobody nowadays seems to differentiate between a DJ (carrying a box of records) to a sound system and all what that entails.

Dionne Reid, a vibrant songstress and gifted writer of Jamaican decent by way of Peckham; first encountered her love for singing randomly when her frustrations got the better of her. She would sing it all away, that led her to open mic nights and being recognised by tastemakers; BBC 1Xtra, Fearne Cotton and Huw Stephen and festival stages such as Glastonbury and Wireless. Having immersed herself with her musical influences; Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley it’s no wonder Dionne's sound is an eclectic fusion of acoustic Soul, Reggae and R'N'B. Her last release SMILE (Seek Meaning In Life Experiences) saw her on the BBC Radio 1 Artist Of The Week. 

Thereafter Dionne took a hiatus to work on herself, new music as well as engage in community activities to help push a positive message. The titled mixtape 'Soundcheck' is an ode to her grind; a mixture of classic Reggae cuts soaked in her own originality and flare.

Sandra Cross is the only girl among seven brothers. She started singing in the Pentecostal Church and led the choir when she was nine. At 14, she recorded with a friend as Love & Unity. Their recording was the first prize for winning a talent show with a song Cross wrote entitled "I Adore You." Released on Studio 76 Records, it was number one on Britain's reggae chart for four straight weeks in 1979; They followed with three Top Five hits: "I Just Don't Care," "I Can't Let You Go," and "Put It On," before splitting up. After the breakup, Cross wanted to go solo but met the Mad Professor, a producer, who owned Ariwa Records. He chose Cross for an all-girl band called the Wild Bunch, whose lone album entered the reggae Top 20 chart in 1984; they toured Europe for a year before disbanding. Cross' first solo release was a remake of the Stylistics' "Country Living," which aced British Chart for ten straight weeks in 1985. Her second solo attempt, "You're Lying," nested at the top spot four weeks, Ariwa released her debut solo album Country Living in 1986. She won the British Reggae Awards for the Best Female Singer six consecutive years in a row, from 1985 to 1991. Other awards included the Radio London Entertainment Celebrity Award in 1986. In 1989, she snagged The Voice Newspaper Music Awards as Best Reggae Female Artist, and won the Chicago Radio Awards for the Highest Selling Record in 1990. Ariwa released six albums on Cross' including The Wild Bunch LP; in 1992 she recorded Lovers Interlude, on Teichiku Records. In 1996, she recorded her first reggae/jazz album, Just a Dream, on Pioneer Records, a Japanese label like Teichiku. Cross' latest recordings have appeared on SCM Records, an acronym for Sandra Cross Music.

The original sound killer from Killamanjaro days. Now SOUND TROOPER the new legend. Born in a small district in St. Mary, named Mount Regale on a Saturday morning, Trooper came into the world hearing a sound system playing from the night before because the house he was delivered in was in a dancehall. He grew up seeing a lot of sounds coming and going out of his birthplace and that’s where the love for the sound systems kicked in. As a child he used to make speaker boxes and amps out of mud and soap boxes and kept imaginary dances with the kids in his birthplace.
He then moved to Spanish Town where he was then exposed to a lot of different sound systems playing in front of his home once again. The sound system bug was biting him again. He linked up with a famous sound owner by the name of Copey who had a sound by the name of Coptic Hi-power, at the tender age of 8 years old and that’s where he began to learn the art of one of Jamaica’s biggest musical culture known as the sound system. That was going to let him be famous all over the world.
He was taught every trick in the sound world by Copey the prof and that’s where he learned to play studio one music an the art of selecting for a packed dance of patrons as a kid going to primary school. His mother used to take him to the dances sometime an wait until he finished work she took him home. She is still supportive of his two talents he moulded from he was young child. A selector an a snare drummer in a drum corp he helped formed that goes by the name of the Magnificent Troopers where Trooper got the famous name. He then moved on and started to dj on diffrent sound sytems an his selecting skills were forgotten for a couple of years because trooper became a full pledged dj with Creation Rock Tower with Papa San, Bunny General,Lecturer and the late Dirtsman.
He then moved to Killamanjaro as a dj with the likes of Ninjaman etc an that was when again is selecting skills came back into play.An after that history in the sound world was written again. Trooper killed the most sounds,won the most trophies,played in the biggest dances to date eg Killamanjaro & Addies the biggest clash in history. He made a lot of artist famous like Sizzla, Luciano, Anthony B, Garnet Silk, Beenieman etc.
He started Sound Trooper in the year 2000 an history was written again because Trooper once again put a next sound on the road that gain worldwide recognition in no time so the struggle is still on. Infact in 2011 he won the Guinness Sounds of Greatness, killin sounds like Black Kat and Silver Hawk and was elected as the best mc/selector of the year …Ricky Trooper the living legend!

With an endless supply of superior dubplates sourced from top producers in Jamaica, augmented by some of their own productions cut with high-ranking music makers in the UK, Sir Coxsone was undeniably top of Britain’s sound system circuit. Their superior selection and the manner in which they presented it to the public gave Coxsone the kind of credibility that most other sounds were never able to achieve, leading to longstanding residencies at nightclubs in the fashionable West End.

He has criticized other Rastafarian reggae artists who record slackness material, describing them as having lost focus. The singer himself has sometimes been criticized for the reading of Biblical verses prior to performances, which has been described as inappropriate.
