Dionne Reid, a vibrant songstress and gifted writer of Jamaican decent by way of Peckham; first encountered her love for singing randomly when her frustrations got the better of her. She would sing it all away, that led her to open mic nights and being recognised by tastemakers; BBC 1Xtra, Fearne Cotton and Huw Stephen and festival stages such as Glastonbury and Wireless. Her authenticity and organic musical experiences allow her to share her music freely and openly. Her rich tone, charismatic stage presence and connection with her art is intrinsic to her core in delivering something impactful.
Having immersed herself with her musical influences; Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley it’s no wonder Dionne's sound is an eclectic fusion of acoustic Soul, Reggae and R'N'B. Her last release SMILE (Seek Meaning In Life Experiences) saw her on the BBC Radio 1 Artist Of The Week.
Thereafter Dionne took a hiatus to work on herself, new music as well as engage in community activities to help push a positive message. The titled mixtape 'Soundcheck' is an ode to her grind; a mixture of classic Reggae cuts soaked in her own originality and flare.

Sandra Cross is the only girl among seven brothers. She started singing in the Pentecostal Church and led the choir when she was nine. At 14, she recorded with a friend as Love & Unity. Their recording was the first prize for winning a talent show with a song Cross wrote entitled "I Adore You." Released on Studio 76 Records, it was number one on Britain's reggae chart for four straight weeks in 1979; They followed with three Top Five hits: "I Just Don't Care," "I Can't Let You Go," and "Put It On," before splitting up. After the breakup, Cross wanted to go solo but met the Mad Professor, a producer, who owned Ariwa Records. He chose Cross for an all-girl band called the Wild Bunch, whose lone album entered the reggae Top 20 chart in 1984; they toured Europe for a year before disbanding. Cross' first solo release was a remake of the Stylistics' "Country Living," which aced British Chart for ten straight weeks in 1985. Her second solo attempt, "You're Lying," nested at the top spot four weeks, Ariwa released her debut solo album Country Living in 1986. She won the British Reggae Awards for the Best Female Singer six consecutive years in a row, from 1985 to 1991. Other awards included the Radio London Entertainment Celebrity Award in 1986. In 1989, she snagged The Voice Newspaper Music Awards as Best Reggae Female Artist, and won the Chicago Radio Awards for the Highest Selling Record in 1990. Ariwa released six albums on Cross' including The Wild Bunch LP; in 1992 she recorded Lovers Interlude, on Teichiku Records. In 1996, she recorded her first reggae/jazz album, Just a Dream, on Pioneer Records, a Japanese label like Teichiku. Cross' latest recordings have appeared on SCM Records, an acronym for Sandra Cross Music.

Sir Coxsone Outernational has long been an important part of Britain’s soundsystem culture.
In its heyday of the 70s and 80s, the sound retained an insurmountable edge, thanks to the unbeatable tag-team of proprietor Lloydie Coxsone and his star selector, Festus, and an ever-changing crew of supporting members that kept the sound perpetually fresh and innovative. With an endless supply of superior dubplates sourced from top producers in Jamaica, augmented by some of their own productions cut with high-ranking music makers in the UK, Sir Coxsone was undeniably top of Britain’s sound system circuit. Their superior selection and the manner in which they presented it to the public gave Coxsone the kind of credibility that most other sounds were never able to achieve, leading to longstanding residencies at nightclubs in the fashionable West End.

Dawn Penn's earliest recordings were composed and written by her around 1966 using session musicians. In 1967, she recorded the rocksteady single "You Don't Love Me", produced by Coxsone Dodd at Studio One. She also recorded "Why Did You Leave" at Studio One, "Broke My Heart" for Bunny Lee, "I Let You Go Boy" and covers of "To Sir with Love" and "Here Comes the Sun". Dawn had also recorded for singer and producer Prince Buster early in her career with songs like "Long Day, Short Night", "Blue Yes Blue" and "Here's the Key". By 1970, Penn had left the music industry and had moved to the Virgin Islands. However, she faced racism there, and in 1987, she returned to Jamaica and to music.
In the summer of 1992, she was invited to appear on stage at a Studio One anniversary show, where she performed the song "You Don't Love Me" with Steely & Clevie as backing musicians. The performance was a success, and she returned to the recording studio to re-record the song for the tribute album Steely & Clevie Play Studio One Vintage. It was released as the single "You Don't Love Me (No, No, No)" over a year later, reaching the charts in the U.S. and Europe, plus hitting #1 in her native Jamaica, and making #3 in the UK Singles Chart. Penn's album, No, No, No, was released on Big Beat Records in 1994.
Subsequently, "You Don't Love Me (No, No, No)" has been sampled and covered by the artists Kano, Hexstatic, Jae Millz, Ghostface Killah, Mims, Eve featuring Stephen Marley and Damian Marley. Their versions were all renamed as "No, No, No", bar Ghostface's, which was named "The Splash".

In the early 1970s he began working as a producer, having success with one of the early lovers rock hits, Louisa Mark's "Caught You in a Lie " Coxsone is credited with paving the way for lovers rock by incorporating soul records into his sound system sets. In the mid- and late-1970s he launched his own Safari, Tribesman and Outernational labels. Among his best-known works as a producer are two dub albums released in 1975 and 1982 - King of the Dub Rock and King of the Dub Rock part 2. These mixed his own productions featuring musicians such as Matumbi with rhythms produced in Jamaica by Gussie Clarke, with the second album also featuring mixes by Scientist. His other productions included the debut single by Levi Roots. In the mid-1980s, Coxsone took a back seat with his sound system, allowing younger men such as Blacker Dread to take a leading role.
Coxsone went into semi-retirement in the late 1980s, but later returned to the sound system circuit with his Sir Coxsone the Outernational system. He was paid tribute by I Roy on the single "Lloyd Coxsone Time".

Dennis Bovell is a reggae guitarist, bass player and record producer. He was a member of the British reggae band Matumbi, and released dub-reggae records under his own name as well as the pseudonym Blackbeard. He is most widely known for his decades-spanning collaborations with Linton Kwesi Johnson. Bovell moved to South London and became immersed in Jamaican culture, particularly dub music, setting up his own Jah Sufferer sound system. Bovell was friends at school with future rock musicians including keyboardist Nick Straker and record producer Tony Mansfield, both of whom later worked with Bovell. He formed Matumbi in the mid-1970s.
Bovell also worked as an engineer at Dip Records, the precursor to the Lovers Rock label, and he was a key figure in the early days of the lovers rock genre. He is also known for attempting to fuse disco rhythms with reggae, most notably with the hit song "Silly Games" by Janet Kay. According to Bovell, he wrote "Silly Games" with the sole intent of it being a hit song.
He has produced albums by a wide variety of artists including I-Roy, The Thompson Twins, Sharon Shannon, Alpha Blondy, Bananarama, The Pop Group, Fela Kuti, The Slits, Orange Juice and Madness. He has collaborated with poet, Linton Kwesi Johnson for much of his working life.

1988 Dj #RedAnt got he’s first breakthrough on Centerforce radio where he held down he’s first weekly radio show. Through the shows it projected him into the rave scene,
playing at underground parties through the progression of acid house to the early 90’s hardcore sound.
Weekend Rush pirate radio station. This is where RedAnt excelled as a house hold name. He’s on point mixing and merges of reggae, soul, ragga over rave music, quickly gained him the respect and prime position as an underground DJ from both his peers and ravers alike.
RedAnt heavily influence the early beginning of jungle music with he’s flight associations with jungle pioneer M Beat being the first DJ to play and promote he’s tracks as well as releasing several tracks of he’s own.

Then in the 70’s was a record selector for a sound called Lion Mattic my cousin sound in Derby and during the summer holiday was still selecting tunes but mixing down the MC’s on the system and Principal also was the singer/chanter and developed a unique style of variating his vocals to give a different flavour to reggae.

Little Roy - Tribal War Live & Direct at #YouTube
Little Roy, born Earl Lowe in Kingston, was the first artist to top the Jamaican chart with an overtly Rasta tune – Bongo Nyah – in 1969. His songs have been versioned repeatedly through the dancehall era – his Tribal War was even used on Nas and Damian Marley’s Distant Relatives album – but he has yet to crash the mainstream himself.
Roy appeared on both Fatty’s albums and, with hindsight, it’s easy to see why Mr Pelanconi chose him for this project. In addition to his obvious talents his voice has a similar grain to that of Kurt Cobain.
His bleak life and lyrics aside, Cobain’s songwriting gave an uplifting quality to Nirvana’s music. And this quality translates perfectly to a series of sprightly vintage rhythms played by Ruff Cutt band's Bubblers, The Wailers’ Junior Marvin, Fatty mainstay Horseman and Leroy ‘Mafia’ Heywood – a central force behind Roy’s excellent previous album, Heat. The arrangements, though actually by Mutant Hi-Fi, are classic Fatty: swirling organs, softly parping horns, and Ark-era Lee Perry-style backing vocals.

He started deejaying at the age of 14 at house parties and then on the Buchanan Sound System along with his sparring partner Smiley Culture. Together they went on to deejay on sounds such as Black Harmony and Frontline before joining Coxsone Outernational and most famously Saxon Studio International in the early to mid 80's.
Asher Senators inspiration as a deejay came from deejays such as Brigadier Jerry and Nicodemus who they often heard through sound tapes. His first single was »Abbreviation Qualification« b/w »Fast Style Origination« released on Fashion in 1984. It was voiced and mixed at the A-Class Dub Studio that was located underDub Vendor at Lavender Hill. »Fast Style Origination« told the tale of the Fast Chat style originated by fellow Saxon deejay Peter King.

Dawn Penn - A Love I can See Live & Direct at #YouTube
Dawn Penn is a Grammy nominated of the original queens of reggae music. First female reggae artist to perform at the BET Awards and a native of Kingston, Jamaica, she grew up in a musical family, studying piano, classical violin and performing with her sisters in churches.
Dawn Penn's earliest recordings were composed and written by her around 1966 using session musicians. In 1967, she recorded the rocksteady single "You Don't Love Me", produced by Coxsone Dodd at Studio One. She also recorded "Why Did You Leave" at Studio One, "Broke My Heart" for Bunny Lee, "I Let You Go Boy" and covers of "To Sir with Love" and "Here Comes the Sun". Dawn had also recorded for singer and producer Prince Buster early in her career with songs like "Long Day, Short Night", "Blue Yes Blue" and "Here's the Key". By 1970, Penn had left the music industry and had moved to the Virgin Islands. However, she faced racism there, and in 1987, she returned to Jamaica and to music.

General Levy is an English ragga deejay, regularly employed on studio tracks by drum and bass DJs. He is best known for the track "Incredible" which he recorded with M-Beat. A remixed version of this reached number 8 in the UK Singles Chart in 1994.
General Levy's first major releases were with the independent record label, Fashion Records, who signed a distribution deal with London Records for the re-releases of the tracks he had recorded. He had earlier releases with the record producers Lloydy Crucial and Robbo Ranx (later of BBC 1xtra), but these were mainly tracks that were hits on the underground dancehall scene. General Levy was ostracized by the UK jungle scene in 1994, due to comments he made relating to his collaboration with M-Beat on "Incredible".

Musicians wanted for Live Sessions @ YouTube studios London
We are a multi-cultural company who preserve and document the history of sound systems and reggae culture, promoting up and coming acts and established artists at YouTube Studios.
We bring together musicians of multiple genres to educate a young audience on the foundations of the music/culture, also enabling an older audience an insight into the up and coming talent. We also bring exposure to urban music on the channel promoting DJ’s and artists. We additionally document and preserve the cultural/musical heritage of the reggae,soul and hip-hop scene.
We have two channels on at YouTube. One is a Don Sinclair Reggae Vibes the other is Urban Rockers.
We are currently looking for singers to showcase and promote on both channels depending on your style of music.
We put on a show once a month where each act will showcase 3 original tracks and have a 20-30 mins interview. We will provide a worldwide platform to showcase your talent.
