50% introvert, 50% born performer, Marc "Tibio" Stevenson is the perfect definition of an outsider.
Having started with writing short poems and rap lyrics, Tibio rapidly got interested in playing some guitar, keyboard and percussions. It was on trying to vocalize his texts that a natural reggae-dancehall flavor emerged. Very soon, age 13 and joining forces with longtime friend Lion Pico, he co-created the French band Bionic Man Sound.
With a background in contemporary dance and gospel choirs, and an ethnicity near impossible to guess, Tibio is about bridging worlds and crossing borders through his chosen art forms.
Born in Guadeloupe (where one of his grandmothers originates from), the singer always kept a strong connection with his Caribbean roots. Aix-en-Provence, the French town where he then grew up from the age of 8 is home to many events, reggae activists and music artists, including the renowned Musical Riot and Chinese Man Records.
Since he arrived in London in late 2010, Tibio has kept collaborating and performing internationally as well as releasing self-produced music. In 2011, he won the London Urban Arts Academy prize for best music act. In 2018, he released his first solo LP called "This Journey" with Otantic Records, and got 4th place on the Britain's Got Reggae contest.
In November 2019, Tibio will be releasing a second solo project, produced by Dub Troubles (Fat Bird Recordings).
