Official Queen Omega Live Performance at Boomtown 2022 [4k Quality]

Official Queen Omega Live Performance at Boomtown 2022 [4k Quality]

Jean Osbourne, 31 August 1981, Trinidad, West Indies. In her early schooldays, Queen Omega initially performed calypso at various talent contests, but in her teenage years, she began providing backing vocals for a number of Trinidad’s leading soca stars. Her debut as a soloist was a dancehall soca fusion, ‘Fire’, which was followed by the Rastafarian-influenced ‘Babylon Bus’. While Trinidad is celebrated for carnival, calypso and soca the island’s younger generation embraced the music of Jamaica. The popularity of ragga on the islands resulted in appearances from artists such as Anthony B., Bushman and Determine. The visiting Jamaicans were supported by Queen Omega and her association led to ragga recording sessions with Doctor Marshall who produced ‘Warning’ and ‘Highest High’. The songs were assured hits when the producer overdubbed lyrics from Capleton and Sizzla. The dread DJs accepted her pseudonym Queen Omega as an acknowledgement of her Rastafarian ideals (Omega is described as the Ethiopian woman who was arguably the queen of the world).

In the new millennium, Queen Omega was recorded with Tony Rebel in Jamaica. He produced the uncharacteristic ‘Love Yah’, which was relegated to the b-side of ‘Big It Up Fah’. While on the island she met the indomitable Mickey D who introduced her to Trevor ‘Juggling’ T. who produced her self-titled debut. The release featured contributions from the Ruff Cut Band, Anthony B. and Archie Wonder.

Official Foundation Reggae Artist Little Harry Exclusive Interview Jamai...

Official Foundation Reggae Artist Little Harry Exclusive Interview Jamaica 2022 πŸ‡―πŸ‡²

Little Harry was born in the parish of Saint Thomas, Jamaica. He attended the Bell Rock Prep School, then the Hampton Court Primary School, the Port Morant All-Age School and Saint Thomas Technical High School. He started deejaying when he was ten years old, that is in 1979. The first Sound System he featured on was Black Lion, which played at the Land Top in Port Morant, he was at this time 12-13 years old. The owner of the sound, Gogol, was a friend of Little Harry's.

When Little Harry went to a pushcart derby and competition in Port Morant Square at a place called Cotton Tree Toby, the owner of Aquarius sound that played that evening, let him take the microphone. It was a success. The following Sunday Little Harry had the opportunity to deejay at an Aces Disco dance that was at a place called Prospect down by the Blue Macho Beach. The same night Little Harry got a contract to deejay on the sound system.

In 1981 Little Harry entered the J.C.D.J National D.J. competition at the legendary Skateland. Even though Yellowman was the winner of the competition Little Harry was very well received. Little Harry and Yellowman became friends and were soon deejaying on the same dances. The record »Live at the Aces; Feeding in the Dance Hall« (1982) which featured Yellowman, Fathead, Jah Rubal and Little Harry was the first time Little Harry's voice was heard on record.

The following year, 1983, Little Harry started deejay for Junjo's legendary sound Volcano. He also recorded an album for Junjo a clash album between himself and fellow child deejay Billy Boyo. It was released by Greensleeves records as most of Junjo's albums were at the time. Little Harry is the winner of the clash.

In 1984 Little Harry moved once again, this time to King Jammy for whom he recorded several songs. In 1986 he started deejaying for King Sturmars Hifi. And the year after he recorded one of his biggest hits, Anorexal Body, for Skengdon.

Exclusive: Al Campbell - Up Close & Personal ❤️πŸ’›πŸ’š

Exclusive: Al Campbell - Up Close & Personal ❤️πŸ’›πŸ’š Alphonso "Al" Campbell (born 31 August 1954) is a Jamaican reggae singer active since the late 1960s. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Campbell's singing career began in church, where his father was a preacher, and Al would sing to raise funds. He went to school with Lloyd James (aka Prince Jammy) and formed a vocal group with friends as a teenager, called The Thrillers, who recorded in the late 1960s for Studio One. After briefly joining up with Freddie McGregor and Ernest Wilson, he went on to work with Prince Lincoln Thompson's Royal Rasses, and the Mighty Cloud band. Campbell then embarked on a solo career (also contributing vocals to two Heptones albums), and was a popular roots reggae singer during the 1970s, recording for producers such as Phil Pratt, Bunny Lee, and Joe Gibbs, and recorded at Lee Perry's Black Ark studio. His "Gee Baby" was a big hit in 1975 in both Jamaica and the United Kingdom. He adapted successfully to the early dancehall and lovers rock styles in the late 1970s and 1980s, working with producers such as Linval Thompson. Campbell's recording of "Late Night Blues" (1980) became a staple of blues parties. Campbell performed with the Stur-Gav sound system in the early 1980s. More recently he has recorded for King Jammy, Philip "Fatis" Burrell, and Mafia & Fluxy. In 1997, he joined Cornell Campbell and Jimmy Riley in a new version of The Uniques, the group releasing a self-titled album in 1999. Campbell has not performed in Jamaica since a stage show held by Jack Ruby shortly before the latter's death. He continues to tour Europe and North America ❤️πŸ’›πŸ’š Uk's Leading Broadcast Station For #Reggae & #SoundSystem #Culture For more Quality Vibes Subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
