#Sovereign sound was formed in Luton in 1984 by my friend Llarley & cousin Lloyd. I joined the sound in 1989 as a selector/maintenance man. In 1990 I started to select the sound, picking up experience as I went along, playing with sounds such as Sir Coxson, Saxon Sound, Unity Sound, Java & Love Injection, making a name for the sound as we went along. I then started voicing dub plates in the early part of that year, although Sovereign were voicing dubs frm 1984. I started to play with big international sounds such as Stone Love, Gemini, Body Guard, Killamanjaro and King Addis, taking the sound to another level. Sovereign also put on shows with Dennis Brown, Sanchez, Beres Hammond & Shabba Ranks to name a few, aswell as holding down a residence at London's hottest nightclub "Trends." In 1999, the club that Sovereign was residence at "Flex Nitespot" in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, came up For Sale, it was the begining of big things to come, my wife Newley & I decided to buy the club, we then changed the name to "Penthouse Nightclub". The year 2000 was a big year for Sovereign, by then I had taken over Sovereign sound & was playing the sound by myself, playing on dances as well as keeping my own promotions which i named "Dancehall eXperience". By 2003 Sovereign started to get a lot of work in Europe playing in France, Italy, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland & Sweden, touring with the sounds Bass Odyssey, Black Kat, Metro Media, Tony Matterhorn & Mighty Crown & holding my own. I continued to keep shows under my promotion name "Dancehall eXperience" with artists such as Beenie Man, Bounty Killa Sean Paul, Wayne Wonder etc... Sovereign Sound has also played in Canada, Florida, Miami, Jamaica, Barbados, Antigua, Trinidad & toured all over Europe & have just finished touring Gambia in October 2007. Sovereign Sound is one of the hardest working sounds in the UK playing out at least three times a week & travelling regually to Ireland & Wales. Sovereign has won many trophys for juggling as well as sound clashing. Sovereign Sound is still one of the hardest working sounds in the UK, with its own unique style, playing a wide selection of music, not to mention the deep dub plate box which includes Garnet Silk & Nitty Gritty as well as D. Brown & many, many others. - DJ SKULLY.

UK Dancehall MC Clapper Priest grew up in a household with young Jamaican parents in Dalston, as a result was introduced at a young age to the spirit of Jamaica with regular house parties and blues dances.

Started to obsessively collect rare and soul, funk and reggae records, early disco 45’s, CDs from an early age until in 1981 at the age of 20, he launched himself as a energetic, illuminating MC on the London sound system reggae scene. His reputation began to rise and in 1985 started to associate himself with the Paddington Terror Sound System working with the likes of Sweetie Irie and Joe 90.

By the mid to late 80s, Clapper’s career was moving skyward, becoming the MC and percussionist for Dalston-based reggae band One Style MDV, performing many shows around the UK and becoming active in the Rock Against Racism campaign. During this time they supported many huge reggae acts including Burning Spear, Gregory Isaac and Winston Reedy, to name a few and in 1988 toured with Joe Strummer for his Rock Against the Rich Tour. During this time Clapper Priest recorded his début single Rasta Far Out produced by Horace Truebridge, a futuristic journey looking back at things from a Rasta perspective.

In late 80s, Clapper Priest left the band to pursue a solo career which culminated in a number of musical projects in collaboration with the first black reggae pirate radio station in London, Ladbroke Grove-based DBC (Dread Broadcasting Corporation). Here he worked closely with the massively renowned DJ Lepke and Ranking Miss P, releasing the single Who Am I.

UK Principal Born in Dulwich South East London 1961. Started in music by singing in the church and school choir from 1969. Then in the 70’s was a record selector for a sound called Lion Mattic my cousin sound in Derby and during the summer holiday was still selecting tunes but mixing down the MC’s on the system and Principal also was the singer/chanter and developed a unique style of variating my vocals to give a different flavour to reggae.

Then in the late 70’s - 80’s my friends in Lee Green created a sound called Enforcer which was a Party Sound but we had vibes. Since then Principal have worked on sounds like Gemini UK, Virgo, Stereo Classic, Prince Melody and various other sounds to many to mention. Now since 1989 Principal joined a band called the Worries were Principal was in my element performing live on a stage the concept of the worries was an idea my friend Winston aka Serpy with Animal aka Leroy the band was born the transition wasn’t easy because being on a sound system a lot of work needed to be done.

UK Principal had a chart topper in Europe on Jah Shaka record label word is Jah went straight in at No 5 in 2010 and the tune is still selling now. The moment UK Principal working with rainbow sounds co-producing this Album Rainbow Sounds meets Principal, also working with Roots Hi-tek in producing an album and also working with Young Warrior to produce an album release date to be confirm. Also had a new release Hola Meditation produced by Luca B C.E.O of Rainbow Sounds released on the Jah Militant Label

With an endless supply of superior dubplates sourced from top producers in Jamaica, augmented by some of their own productions cut with high-ranking music makers in the UK, Sir Coxsone was undeniably top of Britain’s sound system circuit.
